- R&D focus.

- Remote role.

Our client is a leader in impact protection material production. They are seeking an organised and proactive Material Development Specialist to work alongside the Material Development Leader who is based overseas, on delivering commercial material development projects from the R&D phase to final production implementation.

This presents an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic company that specializes in creating innovative materials for high-quality impact-resistant, shock-absorbing, and vibration-reducing products. As an expert in this field, you should have a deep understanding of materials science, especially injection moulding materials. Your main focus will be on the development of new materials using rubbers and TPEs to enhance impact absorption and reduce vibration. Additionally, you will be tasked with establishing and strengthening state-of-the-art technology platforms for rate-sensitive/damping films, elastic tapes, and yarns.

Your responsibilities will include conducting initial research, spearheading R&D projects, and contributing to cost-saving efforts by reformulating materials and optimizing the supply chain. You will also be responsible for nurturing and managing relationships with various stakeholders, staying abreast of scientific literature and industry trends, and offering technical support to different business functions. Furthermore, you will need to ensure that policies, procedures, and documentation related to material development adhere to the necessary standards. Finally, your commitment to ensuring safety and compliance and maintaining good housekeeping practices within laboratories is essential.

The ideal candidate should have a relevant degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, or a related field. Preference will be given to those with experience in thermoplastic elastomers, rubbers, and composites. Additionally, you should have 8+ years of industry experience in polymer chemistry, especially in an R&D environment. Strong knowledge of polymers and materials chemistry, including mechanical properties, characterization, structure, and formulation, is essential. The ability to apply scientific rigour to analyse data, conclude, and present to both technical and non-technical audiences is important. Passion for exploring new materials and applications is also a key attribute.

A quick learner who can work independently and adapt to change. Strong organizational, time management and communication skills are crucial, along with a proactive attitude. Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology is a plus, and proficiency in Microsoft 365, along with business English, is required.

Interested candidates please submit your application by applying on our site. Candidates should submit their CVs with true, complete and accurate information.
